Despite re-signing him 12 months ago, it seems clear that Simons will not stay at PSG for the upcoming campaign, according to Le Parisien.

Although he has been linked with a switch to England this summer, it’s claimed that Simons is eager to move to the Premier League next summer – and that is his firm priority.

A loan to Leipzig for the 2024/25 season and a switch to the top-flight of English football in 2025 appears to be his plan.

The 21-year-old, a product of Barcelona’s academy, completed a move to PSG in 2021 before returning to his native Netherlands to join PSV Eindhoven, scoring 22 goals across an exceptional 2022/23 campaign.

Simons’ eye-catching form in the Eredivisie led PSG to trigger a £5million buyback clause in his PSV contract and the youngster was immediately loaned to RB Leipzig, where he racked up eight goals and 11 assists in the Bundesliga last term.

But Simons’ future remains uncertain – with the Dutchman yet to establish himself in Paris – and speculation is mounting that he could be set for a big-money move away from the Parc des Princes in the summer transfer window.

Arsenal have long been credited with a strong interest in Simons and recent reports suggested Manchester United had joined their Premier League rivals in the race for the attacker’s signature.

‘My future? I don’t know yet. I’m here, happy, with my national team,’ Simons said when quizzed on his situation in the wake of the Netherlands’ goalless draw with France at Euro 2024.

‘We’ll see after the Euros what happens. Do I want to return to Paris? I was happy in Paris, things happened. I was at Leipzig this season.
