Tuesday Morning deal- Erik Ten Hag is still keen and hopeful of sealing a deal for £250k-a-week “world-class” star who is far more experienced than Kylian Mbappe- Ten Hag wants to have few senior players in his squad to help the youngsters grow- Top journalist reports

The European giants were asking for £59m to part ways with the Uruguayan international which the Red Devils didn’t want to pay.

Since then, a lot has not gone on in this front with it seeming like Man Utd were focusing their efforts on other targets. Ugarte is still very much on the Red Devils’ wishlist but the English club does not want to get rolled over by PSG in negotiations.

However, things are set to change now. As per a report from Caught Offside, PSG are now closing in on signing Benfica wonderkid Joao Neves for the midfield.

The Ligue 1 defending champions will have to make room for this expensive signing and are willing to reduce Ugarte’s asking price to around £49.8m (59 million euros).

This valuation is much closer to Man Utd’s desire to pay for the out-of-favour Uruguayan with the Red Devils willing to pay around £46.4m (55 million euros). There still remains a £3m gap in valuation but that is something that can be worked out.

The key factor here is that Luis Enrique, the PSG manager does not envision a future for Ugarte in his team and there is no point in keeping hold of a player who is unlikely to play. Selling him will give the French club money to use elsewhere (not that they seem to need it though).

This might also be the reason why Man Utd are holding out and willing to play the long, waiting game in these Ugarte negotiations. There will reach a stage where PSG are looking to actively sell the player and the Red Devils can take advantage.

Not biting the cherry when the asking price was around £59m has helped Man Utd big time.

The revised PSG valuation of £49.8m sounds much more reasonable and it might be a matter of time before this deal is completed between all parties.
