United plotting blockbuster £38m deal for Serie A midfield enforcer, could be a game-changer – report

The Liverpool game was yet another reminder that the Brazilian has lost more than a yard of pace and he seems to struggle against high-quality opposition, as fans frequently saw last season.

Erik ten Hag has patched things up with the former Real Madrid man but the new co-owners want to get rid considering his gigantic wages.

However, with no Saudi Pro League clubs bidding for him so far, moving him on has proved difficult and he could be in line to start the season for the Red Devils.

United badly need a new DM

With the 32-year-old still playing in red, the 20-time English league champions have failed to cough up the money required to land their prime defensive midfield target Manuel Ugarte.

Paris Saint-Germain’s asking price will not be met by United and they have left the race and will only consider coming back for the Uruguayan should the Ligue 1 outfit reduce their asking price.

The club is looking at multiple names and Givemesport have claimed that United are considering making a move for Atalanta star Ederson, who was scouted extensively last season.
