Done Deal: Before today’s unveiling, the player agrees to join Manchester United as he travels to Manchester.

Man United are set to make an offer to sign Sander Berge, while the player is ready to make the move.

Over the last couple of days, Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move to acquire Sander Berge from Burnley. After signing a defender and forward, acquiring a central player appears to be the next logical step for the Old Trafford side.

With money tight, Erik ten Hag will not be dining at the top table here, unless a big-money sale is made. None of those look imminent, so the Reds are looking at cheaper options as they look to reinforce their midfield.

TEAMtalk have provided an intriguing update on a move for Berge, claiming that the player has now ‘said yes’ to joining United. On top of that, it’s stated that the Reds are now preparing a ‘tempting bid’ to sign the player.

Agreeing personal terms with the Norwegian Berge will not be an issue, so now it’s down to United to agree a fee with Burnley to complete the signing.

Burnley hope to hold out for £30m to let Berge leave, though the Reds’ bid is set to be around the £25m mark, including add-ons.

Although Berge was part of a Burnley team that were unable to stave off relegation, he’s a top player who’d add an awful lot of quality to this United squad.

The Old Trafford side need to bring in a defensive midfielder who can come in and help out an ageing Casemiro, with a view to eventually replacing the Brazilian. Berge could well be that man.

It’s once again reiterated that United are in a situation where they have to sell before they can buy, meaning Berge may have to remain patient until the end of the window here, particularly as the Reds are still eyeing deals for Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt.
