Long-term contract agreed: Man United and world-class playmaker come to an agreement about a long-term transfer deal.

Man Utd’s hunt for a Casemiro replacement continues as the club continue to look in the transfer market for options. The Brazilian hasn’t left the club yet and there doesn’t seem to be any concrete interest in him at the moment.

Even if the 32-year-old was to stay at Old Trafford for next season, Man Utd need an understudy. Someone who could learn the tricks of the trade from the former Real Madrid superstar and transition into the role in the future.

The latest player to be linked with a transfer to Old Trafford for this position is Burnley midfielder Sander Berge. We covered a story earlier today revealing that Man Utd were preparing an offer of around £25m to sign the 26-year-old.

Now, as per The Sun, the Red Devils are ready to agree to a £100,000 per week salary with the Norwegian to sign him this summer. This would work out to around £5.2m per annum for the English club which is a decent pay package.

This salary would be an upgrade on the £40,000 per week that Berge was earning at Burnley until now. It would also be significantly lower than the ludicrous wages Casemiro is earning at Man Utd at the moment, should the Red Devils be able to sell him this summer.

However, at 26, have we seen enough in Berge’s game to say that he will be the replacement for Casemiro? For starters, he is not an out-and-out defensive midfielder and often operates as a #8 for his club.

If Man Utd sign the Norwegian, they will be taking a huge gamble. The initial investment isn’t that high but the Red Devils can’t afford to get it wrong one more time. It would be better to go with a safer bet like Ugarte but let’s see what the club thinks about signing Berge.
