From Ecuador – Man Utd told £50m bid will be accepted for yet another defender signing

So, when the Spanish tactician talks, you listen! Here is what Alonso had to say about Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie:

“I think he’s a very modern defender. He can play in different positions. He’s served us as a full-back in recent games, but has also been the left centre-back when we’ve played with a back three. He’s aggressive, is making better decisions when he has the ball, backs himself more to play diagonal passes and get in behind. It motivates me to have a player with his potential and desire because he helps you and you help him. He’s a great player.”

Glowing recommendation indeed from the ex-Liverpool star. Now, as per Diario Expreso [image attached at the end], Man Utd, Liverpool, Atletico Madrid and Tottenham have expressed interest in signing the Ecuadorian international this summer.

Bayern Munich have also been credited with interest in the 22-year-old. All interested parties have been told that a bid of around £50m will be accepted by Bayer Leverkusen this summer and Hincapie would be allowed to leave.

Hincapie is a versatile defender. Equally comfortable playing at centre-back or left-back, it’s his ability on the ball that made him earn the ‘modern defender’ tag from Alonso. He is also adept at carrying the ball out of the back.

However, the signing is extremely unrealistic for Man Utd this summer considering they’ve already spent a lot of money in luring two central defenders, Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro.

Factor in the deals of Joshua Zirkzee and Noussair Mazraoui and the Red Devils have had a massive summer, financially.

Liverpool for example, on the other hand, are yet to make a signing this summer and can easily pull off Hincapie’s purchase The club is in need of a left-footed centre-back and don’t be surprised to see the Anfield side make a bid for him in the coming days.
