‘How frustrated I am’ – Manchester United star confirms fresh injury blow ahead of Liverpool FC fixture

Man Utd have been handed an injury blow ahead of their Premier League fixture against Liverpool this weekend.

Mason Mount says he shares the frustration of Manchester United supporters after he picked up a fresh injury ahead of their match against Liverpool this weekend.

The 25-year-old is expected to be out for around a month of action after he picked up a muscle injury in the weekend defeat away at Brighton. Mount was replaced at half-time of the match with his side trailing at the Amex Stadium.

Erik ten Hag confirmed after the 2-1 loss that Mount’s withdrawal was down to a fitness issue and now the midfielder has confirmed fears he is set for around four or five weeks on the sidelines.

Taking to social media on Thursday afternoon, the former Chelsea star confirmed the injury setback and admitted he was just as frustrated as fans are after his latest blow.

“During the last game I picked up a minor muscle issue,” he wrote. “I’ve had it checked and it looks like I’ll be out for a few games. Leading up to and during pre-season, I worked hard to get my fitness back to where it needs to be and I felt re-energised, sharp and ready.

“I wanted you to hear it directly from me how frustrated I am, as I expect you are too. I will do everything possible to be back in the best shape and help the team.”

Mount has already missed 27 competitive matches due to injury since joining United from Chelsea a year ago, but has played a key role in Ten Hag’s side during the first few weeks of the new Premier League season.
