New Europa League Draw revealed as Manchester United set to face stronger opponent that could Eliminate them from the group stage

This year, the Europa League is undergoing a significant change. The traditional group stages are being replaced with a league phase, meaning that a team’s position in the league table will instead determine whether they progress into the knockout rounds.

United along with each team, will play eight league stage games, four at home and four away in a bid to finish as high as they can in the league table. The top eight will automatically advance into the round-of-16 while teams finishing between ninth and 24th, qualify for the knockout play-off round.

The remaining teams will be eliminated and will not drop into the Conference League. With that said, MEN Sport brings you all the information on how to follow the draw.



When is the Europa League draw?
The Europa League draw is scheduled for Friday, August 30, taking place Monte Carlo, Monaco. The draw will begin at 12pm BST.

Who could Man United potentially face?

United will be drawn against two teams from each pot, including their own Pot 1. They cannot face English opponents (Tottenham) and can only play a maximum of two teams from one other nation.

Pot 1: Man United, Roma, FC Porto, Rangers, Eintracht Frankfurt, Lazio, Tottenham.

Pot 2: Olympiacos, Lyon.

Pot 1 or 2: Real Sociedad, AZ Alkmaar.

Pot 3 or 4: Malmo, Athletic Club, Hoffenheim, Nice, Twente, Ludogorets Razgrad or Petrocub, RFS or APOEL, Anderlecht or Dinamo Minsk, Besiktas or L
