Man Utd legend offers telling insight after being sat with Sir Alex Ferguson for Liverpool demolition

Peter Schmeichel has revealed how Sir Alex Ferguson reacted to Manchester United’s brutal 3-0 defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford.

It was another bleak day for Man United on Sunday, something which has become all too common under Erik ten Hag.

United started the game quite strongly, but all their good work was undone through two costly mistakes from Casemiro who was at fault for both goals, resulting in the Brazilian being substituted at the break.

Mo Salah secured his customary goal at Old Trafford to seal the points for Liverpool Andre Onana couldn’t get near his sweeping finish into the bottom corner.

Following the match, former United goalkeeper Schmeichel revealed his heartbreaking experience watching the match sat with his old manager, Sir Alex Ferguson.

To sit with him and he is watching this. That, for me, is really, really sad that he is watching that. He did something really extraordinary with this football club. All of that is not there anymore,” he added.

It’s been 11 years since Ferguson retired from management and handed the keys to Old Trafford over to David Moyes.
