Garnacho, showing off a freshly bleached blond haircut, made the most of his brief appearance, sent on as a 79th minute substitute for Lautaro Martinez with his side leading 1-0 against Chile.
In stoppage time Garnacho provided the assist for Argentina’s third goal of the game, setting up Paulo Dybala, who made it 3-0.
Alejandro Garnacho praised
Argentina scored two of their three goals in the 11 minutes Alejandro Garnacho was on the pitch, with the Manchester United prospect directly setting up their final one.
“He made the most of his minutes to show his worth,” TyC Sports reported
Ole described Garnacho’s impact as ‘a dream’ in front of his home support, noting how he ‘waited and wished’ to play in Argentina.
Their report noted how his ‘first action’ created a chance, and ‘fans stood up’ later in the game when he was through on goal and saw his shot saved by Chile’s Gabriel Arias.
Todo Noticias reported: “The Manchester United striker came on in the 79th minute and was able to fulfil one of his childhood dreams.”
This was the perfect way for Garnacho to respond after a tough game against Liverpool, which saw him respond sharply to a fan who had criticised his performance.
