Rasmus Hojlund speaks out as Man Utd fans vent fury at what he posted online after Porto draw

Rasmus Hojlund has spoken out after receiving the wrath of Manchester United fans for a post shared following the 3-3 draw with Porto.

Hojlund made his first start of the season for United on Thursday and opened his account by scoring the second goal in the 20th minute to add to Marcus Rashford’s opener and put Erik ten Hag‘s men 2-0 up.

United collapsed after that though and found themselves 3-2 down early on in the second half after a header from Pepe and a brace from the unplayable Samu Samu Omorodion.

Harry Maguire scored a stoppage-time equaliser to save Ten Hag’s bacon for now.

Accompanied by pictures of him celebrating scoring, the Dane wrote: “Luckily I had 6 weeks to practice my celebration. A win would’ve made it perfect.”

Yet after the poor timing of his post, Hojlund was forced to issue a statement.

On Friday, he responded on his Instagram story – explaining what was shared on his feed and apologising to the fans.

He said: “I’ve seen some anger about my post of yesterday. I never intended that… I was only happy to be back out there on the scoresheet again after a tough few weeks where I couldn’t play and score.

“Obviously we go for the win and I will give everything to make you guys happy, sorry yesterday’s post was not the case. Let’s move on, Getting ready to give everything again on Sunday.”
