‘Frustrated’ – Lisandro Martinez gives emotional interview after controversial Manchester United defeat

Lisandro Martinez couldn’t hide his disappointment when he spoke after Manchester United’s loss against West Ham and warned it’s time for the players ‘to be honest’ with themselves.

United were utterly dominant in the first half at the London Stadium and they would have been leading comfortably had they taken any of the flurry of chances they created. Diogo Dalot’s miss was particularly glaring. The defender took the ball around Lukasz Fabianski and had the goal at his mercy, only to somehow miss the target and balloon a shot wide.

Jarrod Bowen converted from the spot and United’s players were still incensed as West Ham celebrated. The penalty was highly controversial and when Martinez emerged to speak to MUTV after the final whistle, he looked visibly disappointed and gave an honest interview.

“I hate to lose. I hate losing and this club is not what we want. The expectations are really high and we want to win every game,” said Martinez.

“But now it’s time to accept it and be honest with ourselves. I want the best for this club and I’m pretty sure this club will be in the top and we will give everything to put where it deserves to be.

“I’m so frustrated, honestly, so frustrated because I see every day our skills and quality, and then those days when we finish a game and lose, miss many chances again, it’s difficult to accept but we have to accept it.
