Man Utd defeated PAOK 2-0 in the Europa League on Thursday night with both goals from the winger.
Amad Diallo says a training ground regime was behind his stunning second goal for Manchester United against PAOK.
The Ivorian was the standout star for interim head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side as he scored twice to earn a 2-0 victory on Thursday night, warning United their first European win in 380 days.
Amad gave United a second-half lead with a brilliant back-post header and added a late second when he disposed defender Baba Abdul Rahman deep inside the PAOK half and then fired a deflected effort into the back of the net.
There was certainly an element of luck about the manner in which the ball went in, though the 22-year-old revealed he had earned his own luck by working so hard to win the ball back in the first place.
“It is important to score every time. This season I have been unlucky so I am happy to score two today. But the most important thing was to win. I like to celebrate with the fans and make people happy.”
Speaking after the match, Van Nistelrooy piled the praise on Amad and hailed the young winger for the attitude he had displayed in training. He told TNT Sports: “He made a difference today, because of his goals but he was very sharp. Well done to him, good game. Positionally we weren’t good in the first half. We were much better at that in the second half. He has been incredible in training, he always trains well and is asking me to do more.”
