Ruben Amorim reportedly has plans to make a forgotten Manchester United star a key part of his plans.
Amorim took the reins at United on Monday and arrived at Carrington after replacing Erik ten Hag and signing a contract until 2027.
On his first day in the job, it was confirmed that Ruud van Nistelrooy had left the coaching staff after an unbeaten run as interim manager.
Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar and Pieter Morel have also not been kept off, as Amorim brings in his own people that he knows from his successful stint at Sporting.
Van Nistelrooy only returned in the summer as assistant to Ten Hag and the club thanked him for his contributions.
It was a first big decision made by Amorim, but The Sun have word on another surprise move the 39-year-old is poised to make.
A new report claims that Amorim has big plans for Mason Mount, who hasn’t got going at United after a £55 million from Chelsea.
After taking the No.7 shirt vacated by Cristiano Ronaldo, Mount endured an injury-hit season and made just 20 appearances last term, scoring one goal.
He’s featured just six times again in the current campaign, again struggling to find form and continuing to be well away from England squad contention.
But it appears though he could get a new lease of life under Amorim, who likes his ability to play multiple positions and thinks he can fit well into his system.
