Ipswich fan who confronted Roy Keane reveals what caused furious bust-up with Man Utd legend

The Ipswich Town fan who was involved in an angry exchange with Roy Keane on Sunday has revealed what he said in the spat.

Ipswich drew 1-1 with Manchester United at Portman Road in Ruben Amorim’s first game in charge, with Omari Hutchinson’s deflected strike cancelling out Marcus Rashford‘s early opener.

Keane, who has links to both clubs, was providing punditry on Sky Sports and got into it with a supporter during an advert break.

Footage shared by the Daily Mail showed Keane put down his microphone and head over to the front row to confront a fan who had been shouting abuse at him.

A second video, filmed closer to the scene, captured the United legend telling the supporter, “I’ll wait for you in the car park and we can discuss it!”.

Security and stewards did their best to diffuse the situation, with Keane calmly heading back to his pitchside position and a concerned Jamie Redknapp was heard telling fans to “Just leave it”.

A fan appeared to tell Keane, who was Ipswich manager for 81 games between 2009 and 2011, “You’re a better pundit than you are a manager!”. But Neil Finbow, the supporter in question, gave his version of events and explained what he said to the 53-year-old.

Taking to Facebook, he posted: “New claim to fame. Just been offered out into the car park by Roy Keane after a few choice words. Even Jamie Redknapp had to come over to get him away. Just ya [sic] average Sunday evening out.”

When asked exactly what he said, Finbow went into detail as to what he told the Irishman, who he claims “ruined” Ipswich during his tenure.
