Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount has posted a series of wordless photographs on social media after making his return in Ruben Amorim’s first game in charge.
The 25-year-old has endured a frustrating start to life as a United player following a spate of injuries, as well as the recent dismissal of Erik ten Hag. A hamstring issue and head injury reduced Mount to just four Premier League appearances, seven in all competitions, this season, with his latest coming as a late substitute during Sunday’s draw at Ipswich.
In two seasons at Old Trafford, Mount has mustered just 27 appearances providing one goal and one assist. The former Chelsea midfielder will be looking to kick on under the Portuguese tactician with United gearing up for a gruelling shift in style and intensity.Mount could prove key to Amorim’s plans, at least until the end of the season, and his post on social media gave little away with a series of action shots from his four-minute cameo at Portman Road.
he former Sporting head coach had a handful of training sessions in preparation for the trip to Suffolk but faced difficulty with a host of his key players on international duty. But Mount was among those who made an early impression.
“Mason Mount… I have to tell you I love that kid,” Amorim said on Friday. “You can look in his eyes that he wants this so bad. And this is the most important thing for me.
“I know he was suffering from injuries, he was not on the pitch, but now he’s trying to stay fit and we hope he can continue to be fit, to show all the talent that he’s shown, for example, in Chelsea.”
