Manchester United cruised to a 4-0 victory over Everton at Old Trafford. Here are our player ratings from the game.
(A score of 6 is around average)
Andre Onana 7 – Didn’t really have much to do apart from the final few minutes, when he produced some good saves to deny the Toffees. Played out from the back well. Another clean sheet.
Noussair Mazraoui 6 – A slightly more testing game than usual for him. Iliman Ndiaye beat him one or two times but he finished strongly before being taken off ahead of Wednesday’s game vs. Arsenal.
Matthijs de Ligt 5 – Outpaced by Beto in the first half, requiring Onana to swing into action. The Everton striker’s physicality gave him something to give about. Like Mazraoui, grew into the match as United became more dominant.
Lisandro Martinez 7 – Superb passing and defensive effort. Seems to be really enjoying and thriving in that back-three system. Harshly booked and will consequently miss the Arsenal game in mid-week.
Amad Diallo 9 – Unreal player! What a gem we have on our hands. His relentless work rate directly led to both of Zirkzee’s goals. The Ivorian was flawless at right-wing-back and constantly threatened. He may not have got on the score sheet but was equally as impactful.
Kobbie Mainoo 7 – Nice to see him back after a lengthy period on the sidelines. Worked hard, kept the ball well and helped United maintain spells of possession. Also received a yellow card and will miss Wednesday’s meeting with Arsenal.
Casemiro 5 – Got dragged out of position a few times but other than that, kept it steady.
Diogo Dalot 5 – More intentional and driven but end product was slightly lacking.
Marcus Rashford 9 – Got a brace. A constant source of threat and was involved in most good things United did going forward. Linked up well with Zirkzee and Amad.
Bruno Fernandes 8 – Amazing performance. Great assist to set up Zirkzee for United’s second. Nutmegged Ashley Young and was unlucky not to get a penalty.
Joshua Zirkzee 9.5 – Also managed a double and took both of his goals well. Some very excellent and intrinsic play between the lines. Held up the ball fantastically and brought his teammates into action. Hopefully, his display was a sign of things to come going forward.
Substitutes
Harry Maguire 6 – Helped get United over the line as he slotted into the heart of the backline.
Luke Shaw 7 – He’s looked great since returning from injury. A nice headed clearance to set United on their way for the fourth goal.
Manuel Ugarte 5 – Did his job and injected a bit more energy in the middle of the park.
Alejandro Garnacho 6 – Lively when he came on. One or two sights of goal but couldn’t find the back of the net. Got some much-deserved rest.
Mason Mount 5 – On the pitch for a limited period.
