Since Amorim’s arrival at Old Trafford, there has been growing speculation over Goncalves’ future in Lisbon. Reports have claimed a reunion could be on the cards for the Portuguese manager and Pote – as he’s famously known.
The Daily Mail previously reported he’s one to watch ahead of the transfer window opening next month. However, Amorim has already ruled out signing any of his former Sporting players in the new year, but it has been suggested that a deal could be completed next summer.
With Pote set to remain out until 2025, the 26-year-old winger is unlikely to attract a winter switch elsewhere. This could work in the favour of United, should they decide to pursue a move for him at the end of the season.
