Morgan Gibbs-White rubs salt in Andre Onana wounds after humiliating Man Utd keeper

Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White rubbed salt into the wound of Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana after admitting he didn’t expect to score in their shock 3-2 win.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side secured a deserved victory at Old Trafford after goals from Nikola Milenkovic, Gibbs-White and Chris Wood condemned Ruben Amorim‘s side to back-to-back defeats.

The Cameroonian endured a nightmare 90 minutes after also making an error for the winning goal and the 25-year-old said he was expecting the £47million stopper to save it.

When asked by Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp if he thought the ball was going in, Gibbs-White said: “I didn’t at all, to be fair.

Gibbs-White put in an influential display as he also set up what proved to be the winner when Wood headed into the far corner from his cross. It was another moment to forget for Onana, who misjudged the flight of the ball and could only watch it bounce over the line.

And the New Zealand striker praised his team-mate for producing a quality moment: “Morgs [Gibbs-White] has put in a fantastic delivery, he’s got quality the boy,” Wood said. “It’s just about finding areas to cause confusion.

“Everybody know the emphasis on set-pieces these days, it’s huge, a big avenue for and against. We did well today.”

The result leaves United languishing in 13th in the table, while Forest have climbed to fifth and are now just two points behind Manchester City.
