“It’s Either they sell him or sack me…I can’t coach a player who severally go against my command”: Ruben Amorim is not satisfied with ONE particular Man United player’s performance against Tottenham as he order for his sale instantly

Manchester United suffered a 4-3 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup. Here are our player ratings from the game.

(A score of 6 is around average)

Altay Bayindir 1 – Shocking error for Spurs’ opening goal. Never really looked convincing. Also not good enough for Son’s late goal.

Leny Yoro 7 – One of the very few United players who can hold their head high. United’s best defender despite the embarrassing result. Kept it nice and simple. Good defensive contributions and impressive on the ball.

Victor Lindelof 4 – One or two sloppy moments before he was forced off injured just before the break.

Lisandro Martinez 1 – At fault for Spurs’ second and third goals. His woeful attempt at a clearance guided the ball into the path of a thankful Dejan Kulusevski, who was all too happy to fire past Bayindir. Made to look like a fool by Solanke a few minutes later as Spurs opened up a three-goal advantage.

Noussair Mazraoui 5 – Struggled at right-wing back, which is unlike him. Sloppy at times and was booked for a reckless foul on Djed Spence. Almost scored to restore parity after some brilliant link-up inside the box with Fernandes.

Manuel Ugarte 8 – Covered so much ground, especially in the opening 45 minutes when at times, it felt like he was doing more than one man’s job. Absolute monster out of possession.

Christian Eriksen 5 – Some brilliant moments especially in the first half, including one or two good switches in vintage Eriksen style. Got on the end of two cutbacks but he hit a defender on both occasions.

Diogo Dalot 6 – Slightly better than he has been in the past few games. Got forward when the opportunity presented itself even though it didn’t always come off. Should have had an assist but Eriksen couldn’t convert any of his cutbacks.

Antony 3 – Just a nothing performance really. Didn’t offer anything at all as part of the attack. Never really got into the game. Likely to be the last game he starts for United in a while.

Bruno Fernandes 6 – Excellent work to pinch the ball from Spurs and pass it on to Zirkzee, who easily scored.

Rasmus Hojlund 2 – Couldn’t make the ball stick at all. Spurs defenders had his number all game and he was rightfully among the first to be hooked by Amorim.

Substitutes
Jonny Evans 7 – Could have done a bit better for Solanke’s second strike. Got a late goal.

Amad Diallo 8.5 – Bright spark when he came on. A constant threat when he came on and you could see it by just how terrified Spurs were of him. Fantastic pressing to close down Fraser Forster and score.

Kobbie Mainoo 6 – Brought some much-needed composure in the middle of the park.

Joshua Zirkzee 8 – Significantly better compared to Hojlund. Took his goal well to breathe some life into United when it all seemed done and dusted.

Alejandro Garnacho 5 – Didn’t do much during the time he was on the pitch.
