Ruben Amorim gives update on Marcus Rashford as devastating injury blow for Man Utd teammate confirmed

Ruben Amorim has given an update on Marcus Rashford’s future after leaving the forward out of his squad for Thursday’s Carabao Cup defeat to Tottenham.

Rashford, 27, was first dropped from the United squad along with Alejandro Garnacho for last weekend’s Manchester derby, with Amorim stating his decision to leave out the pair was to do with setting high standards at United.

Rashford later fuelled speculation he could leave the club by admitting in an interview with journalist Henry Winter that he was “ready for a new challenge and the next steps”.

While Garnacho returned to the United squad for the Carabao Cup quarter-final clash with Spurs in midweek, Rashford was not included and did not attend the game in north London.

His absence cost United, who were beaten 4-3 in one of the most chaotic games of the season so far.

Amorim’s side next face Bournemouth at home in the Premier League on Sunday and the Portuguese insists Rashford could potentially play a part, but only if he impresses in training.
