Fraser Forster was at fault for two of Manchester United goals in Tottenham’s dramatic EFL Cup quarter-final victory last night, but captain Son Heung-min has leapt to the goalkeeper’s defence.
Spurs eventually booked a semi-final date with Liverpool after seeing off United 4-3 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but only after conceding two comical goals to jeopardise their 3-0 lead.
A Dominic Solanke brace either side of a Dejan Kulusevski strike handed Spurs a commanding lead early in the second half. But then Forster gifted possession to United inside the Tottenham box, allowing Bruno Fernandes to set up a tap-in for substitute Joshua Zirkzee to pull on back for Ruben Amorim’s men in the 63rd minute. And seven minutes later, Amad Diallo charged down a Forster clearance, with the ball ricocheting into the net.
