Jamie Carragher has slammed one particular player during his post-match analysis of Manchester United’s 2-0 defeat against Newcastle at Old Trafford on Monday.
Carragher, 46, did not hold back when discussing the result on Sky Sports with presenter Dave Jones.
Eddie Howe’s side outplayed Ruben Amorim’s team and went two up within the first 19 minutes of proceedings, with Alexander Isak and Joelinton both getting on the scoresheet.
Zirkzee, 23, was replaced by Kobbie Mainoo and instantly walked toward the tunnel before returning to the United dugout with a drink in his hand shortly after.
And despite the poor showing from the majority of United’s players on the night, Carragher focused on one player in particular when speaking on Sky Sports’ MNF.
“Again, I go to [Lisandro] Martinez, he can see Joelinton,” said Carragher when analysing Newcastle’s second goal.
“Martinez, for me, when he first came in, I was very strong on the fact I thought he was too small to play centre-back in a back four in the Premier League.
