Man Utd’s first two January exits planned as Ruben Amorim looks to change squad after torrid start

Two Manchester United players are ‘set’ to be loaned out by the club in the January transfer window.

United currently sit 14th in the Premier League, just seven points outside of the relegation zone after 19 games.

On Monday, they played out a 2-0 defeat against Newcastle United at Old Trafford, taking Ruben Amorim’s record as United boss to five Premier League defeats in just eight league games since taking charge of the club in November 2024.

Of course, Amorim, 39, is yet to sign a single player, as the transfer window opened two days ago. But on Wednesday, he was dealt a huge blow when the MEN’s Samuel Luckhurst revealed that due to the £206.06m spent on the five summer recruits – Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, Joshua Zirkzee, Manuel Ugarte and Leny Yoro – the club may have to “sell to buy” in the January window.
