According to Spanish source, Nacional, Nico Williams has been heavily linked with a move away from Athletic Bilbao this summer and Man Utd submitted an offer for him.
The Catalan outlet claim apart from the 20-time English champions, even Chelsea and French champions, Paris Saint-Germain made offers, whereas, Barca were considered favorites to secure his signature.
However, Williams has made a decision to stay with the San Mames outfit.
It is stated that the 22-year-old made a promise to his family and brother team-mate Inaki William that he will stay to feature in Europe for Bilbao, who will feature in the Europa League in the 24-25 campaign.
Last season, Williams, who mainly features on the left flank, scored 8 goals and provided no fewer than 19 assists in all competitions.
He started 4 games in the Copa Del Rey and directly contributed in 8 goals as Athletic Bilbao went on to win the title.
The speedy winger was a key member of the La Roja squad that lifted the European Championships trophy last month and he scored the opening goal of the final against England.
Man Utd would benefit from signing a top class wide player like Williams considering all their wingers flopped last term.
