BREAKING: Liverpool release Man United match statement in major snow update after emergency meeting

“At this stage the match is planned to go ahead as normal and every effort is being made to get the game on. A further safety meeting will take place again at midday to assess the latest conditions.

“We will update supporters just as soon as we can. Please take extra care out there, Reds.”

In the EFL, Chesterfield vs Gillingham and Fleetwood Town vs AFC Wimbledon have both been postponed amid the adverse weather conditions, although Crewe Alexandra vs Bromley will be going ahead.

A statement from Manchester United, which followed Liverpool’s, was shared on X, formerly Twitter. It read: “Our match against Liverpool is set to still go ahead at this stage, despite snow and weather warnings in the North West today.

“Take care if you are travelling to the game — we will update you with the latest developments.”

Inspections also took place at Chepstow and Plumpton racecourses to see whether racing could go ahead. An update shared on X at 10.15am confirmed races at Plumpton had been abandoned due to weather, although Chepstow confirmed its course had passed inspection and races were going ahead.
