Here’s a breakdown of Manchester United’s player ratings following their 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur:
Harry Maguire – 6
Maguire did his job quietly in the middle of the back three. He didn’t make any glaring mistakes, but his performance was solid without standing out. While he wasn’t at fault for the goal, his overall contribution was steady, though not spectacular.
Matthijs de Ligt – 5
De Ligt had a mixed performance. While he showed some solid defending for the most part, he was caught out by James Maddison for the opening goal, losing track of him in a crucial moment. That lapse in concentration was costly, but he managed to regain his composure after that. Still, he could’ve been more aware in that instance.
Diogo Dalot – 4
Dalot had a disappointing outing. He had a chance in the box but failed to capitalize, and his attacking output in the wing-back role was underwhelming. Defensively, he allowed Son Heung-min to have too much freedom down the right, and his overall impact on the game was minimal.
Casemiro – 2
Casemiro’s performance was poor and highlighted why he’s seen less playing time under Amorim. He was dispossessed far too easily and gave the ball away multiple times, even when there was little to no pressure. His inability to track opposition players and prevent them from advancing left a lot to be desired. At this level, he just didn’t show enough to justify his place in the team.
Bruno Fernandes – 4
Fernandes was not as influential as usual. He did provide a decent assist for Alejandro Garnacho, but the latter’s effort was poorly executed as he missed the target from a good position. Fernandes also had a tendency to give the ball away carelessly, which disrupted United’s rhythm in the midfield. Overall, it wasn’t a great performance by the playmaker.
Patrick Dorgu – 6
Dorgu had a decent showing, especially considering the limited opportunities he had to influence the game. He looked solid defensively and tried to push forward when possible. While he didn’t get much of the ball, he contributed positively when he did. Still, more game time could allow him to show more of what he’s capable of in the attacking third.
Overall, United’s performance was underwhelming, with several key players failing to rise to the occasion. Defensive lapses and missed opportunities upfront were central to their disappointing defeat.
