Manchester United are in talks with Arsenal to decide a compensation fee for Denmark youth international striker Chido Obi-Martin, according to The Athletic.
The 16-year-old left the Gunners last month after his schoolboy contract expired and is set to join the Red Devils having agreed personal terms with them and completed his medical at Carrington training base.
However, Arsenal have to accept an exit price for the move to go ahead as Obi-Martin left as an academy player who had not signed a professional deal.
The matter could go to a Premier League tribunal if both clubs cannot reach an agreement, but that is not expected to be the case, with every party involved anticipating that talks will reach a positive conclusion.
A ratification process will follow once Arsenal and Man United agree a fee, which could take weeks.
Obi-Martin cannot sign a professional deal with any Premier League club until he turns 17 in November under the Football Association’s rules, and the Red Devils will hope the Gunners agree to a reasonable compensation.
The teenage sensation will join their youth setup once the move is made official and has been tipped to get regular invites to first-team training sessions.
The former Arsenal schoolboy ended last term with 32 goals in 20 league games for their under-18s, attracting several suitors as a result.
However, Man United won the race for his services and are convinced he has what it takes to become a Premier League star.
Obi-Martin left the North London club after he was unconvinced with their plans for him concerning a guaranteed pathway to senior football, but the Red Devils gave him assurances and all eyes will be on the talented teenager going forward.
The Old Trafford club have signed one of the best academy players in the land and have potentially saved themselves millions going forward given the current inflated transfer market.
