Man United confirm another huge injury blow before season starts, key player set to miss opening games

Luke Shaw will not play in the opening weeks of the Premier League campaign.

Manchester United Football Club have endured more pre-season injuries, for the second term in a row. Pressure is building on Erik ten Hag, too, particularly with INEOS delivering the manager some brilliant signings.

Perhaps the addition of Noussair Mazraoui is extremely timely, with Luke Shaw once again set for a spell on the sidelines.

Yesterday evening, United confirmed the huge injury blow to Shaw before the season kicks off on Friday night. The key Red Devils player is set to miss the opening games of the campaign after suffering a calf injury.

United stated that Shaw is now ‘working hard’ on his rehabilitation, as he looks to return to the mix after the first international break. Simply put, he’s targeting a September 14th return – which is about one month away.

Shaw picked up the problem during pre-season training. It’s a bitter blow for both club and player. Shaw cannot help it. Sadly, that’s just the nature of his body after suffering that horrific injury against PSV Eindhoven in the Europa League. That said, there’s only so much of this the manager can take…
