Deal Close: Man United’s swap deal edge closer as Superstar leaves for Erik ten Hag’s favorite to join

According to The Independent, Sancho is set to join PSG on a loan deal with an obligation to buy. The French side came up against Sancho in the semi-finals of last season’s Champions League, in which he starred for loan club Dortmund.

PSG are now thought to be open to a deal, with Sancho himself willing to move to the French capital. Those talks have been part of discussions around Ugarte, with the two clubs attempting to unlock a deal for the midfielder.

United see defensive midfield as a priority position for the rest of the summer, with Ugarte their primary target. Boss Ten Hag is understood to be a huge fan of the 23-year-old, with United’s new recruitment team in agreement with the Dutchman.

Sancho is not the only player United have offered to PSG, with Rashford also being raised in talks. Such a deal now looks unlikely with the England attacker keen to ‘knuckle down’ at the Red Devils.

But given United chiefs raised him in transfer talks, a decision will need to be made on his long-term future at the club. Rashford missed several major chances in the Community Shield, but Ten Hag is backing him to hit top form.

“No, I think he was several times in very good positions, I am very pleased he is getting in those positions. He needs to keep going and keep making those movements and he will score goals,” the United boss said.

“He is experienced enough to deal with this. Once he scores one, the goals will come. When we have some news, we will announce it. Until that point, we will work with the squad that is available.

“It’s clear we have the problems and we have to work, the players have to work to be available and the staff have to work, together it should be a good collaboration with the players who are available.”
