Jonny Evans gives worrying Rasmus Hojlund injury update after speaking to Man Utd striker

Jonny Evans has provided a worrying update on Rasmus Hojlund’s fitness after speaking to the striker following Manchester United’s pre-season defeat to Arsenal.

United were beaten 2-1 by the Gunners in the early hours of Sunday morning at SoFi Stadium in California.

Hojlund, 21, put Erik ten Hag‘s side ahead after just 10 minutes but goals from Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli turned the match on its head.

Just minutes after giving United the lead, Hojlund was forced off with an injury.

And to make matters worse for the Old Trafford club, new signing Leny Yoro was also forced to leave the field in discomfort on only his second appearance for the Red Devils since joining from Lille in a deal worth up to £62m.

Speaking after the match, United manager Ten Hag said he was unsure about the severity of the injuries to Hojlund and Yoro and would have to wait for the results of tests.

“It is too short [to know about their injuries] and we have to wait over 24 hours, then we will hopefully know more,” said Ten Hag.

“We were careful especially with Leny [Yoro] as he only did 50 per cent of the [training] sessions. He has to come up but let’s be positive and see what comes out.”

Hojlund himself gave a cryptic response when asked about the injury, commenting after the match: “We’ll see.”

United defender Evans provided more information in his post-match interview, claiming Hojlund felt a problem in his hamstring before being taken off.
