Ivan Toney transfer ‘agreed’ as Manchester United get update

Brentford striker Ivan Toney’s transfer could reportedly be completed within the next 24 hours after he again was left out of the Bees’ squad for their trip to Liverpool.

The England international’s future at the London club has been in doubt all summer after Toney made it abundantly clear last season that he wanted a ‘big move’. With Manchester United looking for strikers in the summer transfer window, the 28-year-old was inevitably linked with a switch to Old Trafford.United manager Erik ten Hag added Joshua Zirkzee to his team but after Rasmus Hojlund’sinjury, speculation crept up again that the Reds could make a last-ditch bid for his services. Last weekend, Toney missed out on the Brentford team that beat Crystal Palace and he was not named in the squad at Anfield on Sunday.Explaining to Sky Sports the reason for Toney’s absence, his manager Thomas Frank said: “The status is the same as last week. Things are going on with transfer speculation so the decision is the same.
