Attacker rejects big offer, prefers to move to Man Utd – Ashworth driving to get deal done

Once Man Utd officially complete the Manuel Ugarte transfer, they will have signed five players so far this summer – Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui and the PSG man himself. Surprisingly, it looks like Man Utd are still not done.

The Red Devils have been linked with a transfer for one of the most unlikeliest of targets in recent days – ex-Manchester City star Raheem Sterling.

We covered a story yesterday revealing that Man Utd would like to complete a swap deal that would see Jadon Sancho move the other way.

Now, as per The Daily Mirror, Sterling has rejected a big move to Saudi Arabia as he wants to stay in England. The 29-year-old’s desire is to work his way back into the English national team setup and he is aware that he might have to stay in England to even have a chance at doing that.

This is why the ex-Liverpool forward is open to moving to Man Utd, as per Daily Mail. Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has made it very clear that Sterling will not get any game time if he stays at Stamford Bridge, handing out a clear directive asking the player to move.

As per the Times, Dan Ashworth, Man Utd’s sporting director is the driving force behind making this Raheem Sterling deal happen. Apparently, the 29-year-old supported the Red Devils growing up and would entertain this possibility.

Should Man Utd sign Sterling?

Should Man Utd manage to sign Sterling this summer, it has to be at the expense of Jadon Sancho who is keen about the possibility of joining Chelsea. Should the two clubs see eye-to-eye on this swap deal, things could get wrapped up quickly
