DEAL COMPLETED: Man United announces the departure of the team’s most popular player. The player says goodbye with emotion as millions of supporters watch in tears.

ManchesterWorld exclusively reported earlier this week that the 20-year-old, who featured on United’s pre-season tour of the USA this summer, was set to join the Cod Army after a previous loan stint at Stockport County.

He could make his debut against AFC Wimbledon this weekend and will probably play some part in Fleetwood’s high-profile Carabao Cup trip to Stoke City next month.

Bennett has never played a competitive game for United but did captain the Under-18s to Youth Cup glory in 2022, with the centre-back netting in the final against Nottingham Forest. He came off the bench in the summer friendly against Liverpool and was previously named on the bench for the Premier League defeat at West Ham United last December.

Bennett will hope to gain regular minutes during his time at the League Two club, who have made an unbeaten start to the season following their relegation last term. The youngster signed a second professional contract with United a year ago and feels he is ready to play senior football.

Meanwhile, United are expected to complete the signing of Manuel Ugarte before the end of the transfer window tomorrow (Friday). Teenager Sekou Kone is also on the verge of joining the Red Devils, who have not ruled out a deadline-day swoop for Raheem Sterling.

In terms of outgoings, Scott McTominay is in Italy completing his medical ahead of a switch to Napoli, while Juventus are also pursuing a deal for Jadon Sancho, and there’s an outside chance Victor Lindelof could still leave. Other possible departures include Sonny Aljofree and Elyh Harrison, who have attracted loan interest.
