Erik ten Hag ‘blocked’ two players from leaving Man Utd on deadline day after Jadon Sancho exit

Erik ten Hag stopped two Manchester United players from leaving the club on transfer deadline day, according to reports, as Jadon Sancho joined Chelsea.

United were relatively busy in the hours before Friday’s deadline. They finally completed the signing of Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain in a deal that could reach £50.5 million.

And after weeks of speculation, academy graduate Scott McTominay made a £25 million switch to Napoli.

Jadon Sancho was the final player to leave Old Trafford on Friday evening as he joined Premier League rivals Chelsea on a season-long loan, but there could have been more outgoings.

It has emerged that La Liga side Real Betis approached United with loan offers for Antony and Christian Eriksen, according to the Daily Mail.

Given the departures of Sancho and McTominay, it was an ambitious move from the Spanish club and unsurprisingly, they were told there was no chance of it happening.

Antony, who is the second most expensive signing in United‘s history following his £86 million move from Ajax, has notched 11 goals and five assists in 82 appearances for the Reds.

The Brazilian has been a source of frustration but a loan move made little sense for United following the departure of fellow winger Jadon Sancho.

Eriksen, meanwhile, is likely to play second fiddle to the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte in midfield areas. His experience, however, could prove vital in the coming months.
