Why Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho aren’t included in Man United Europa League squad list

Kobbie Mainoo, Toby Collyer and Alejandro Garnacho have been left off Manchester United’s initial Europa League squad submitted to UEFA earlier this week.

Every club in the group stages of the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League had to submit their squads to the governing body by 11pm on Tuesday and United’s 25-man squad has been revealed today. Mainoo, Collyer and Garnacho are the stand-out names not included but all three have missed the cut because they are classed as ‘club-trained players’ and as a result can be added to the B list of players ahead of the opening game.

United begin their eight-game league schedule against FC Twente at Old Trafford on Wednesday, September 25 and they will be able to add players who qualify for the B list to the squad up to the day before that fixture, so Mainoo, Collyer and Garnacho will still feature in the competition this season.
