What happened to the Man Utd wonderkid who ‘rejected deal’ to stay at Old Trafford after club kept Erik ten Hag

Despite being offered a new deal, a talented wonderkid left Manchester United shortly after club decided to stick with former manager Erik ten Hag, but where is he now?

During Ten Hag’s final summer in charge of Manchester United, he oversaw the departures of several players including Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Scott McTominay.

In total, a massive 14 players left Old Trafford ahead of what would be Ten Hag’s final months in charge of the club, including one talented youngster who the club had hoped would sign a new deal.

But what happened to the promising wonderkid, and where is he now?

After coming through the United academy, Omari Forson was handed his first team debut by Ten Hag and was trusted to come off of the bench during last season’s FA Cup semi-final clash with Coventry City.

Therefore, it was clear that club officials held the winger in high regard, leading to them offering him an extension on his deal ahead of it expiring last summer.

But Forson, who was concerned over getting frequent minutes in the first team, ultimately decided to reject United’s offer and, despite interest from several other Premier League sides, he instead joined Serie A club Monza as a free agent.

The 20-year-old made his first start for his new club in a Coppa Italia clash against Brescia in September, playing the whole 90 minutes as his side won the match 3-1 at home.

However, despite impressing in the match, Forson has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter at the Italian club, making just six appearances under manager Alessandro Nesta, with zero goal contributions
