Man Utd board decision shows ‘they’re not backing’ Erik ten Hag as his replacement named

talkSPORT presenter Jason Cundy claims Manchester United’s offer of a one-year contract extension toErik ten Hag in the summer shows “they’re not backing” the manager.

Cundy, who scrutinised United’s dismal form under Ten Hag to start the 2024/25 season, stated the Dutchman’s days as Red Devils boss are already numbered. He went on to name Ten Hag’s recently-appointed assistant coach and former United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy as his obvious successor

The new Old Trafford hierarchy took months to deliberate on whether they would stick with Ten Hag at the end of last season, after he oversaw the club’s worst ever Premier League finish. An FA Cup final triumph over rivals Manchester City helped him secure a one-year extension on top of his existing one-year deal in July.
