Ruben Amorim’s side are ready to submit a formal proposal to hire the 19-year-old with the Italian giants not willing to let him leave for anything less than £25.2m[€30m].
The Nerazzurri don’t want to sell him before the summer and are planning to take him to the Club World Cup – which will commence in June this year. However, if United manage to broker a deal for him before that then they will have to change their plan.
Esposito has been in fine form this season, scoring nine goals and registering a solitary assist in 17 Serie B starts.
Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee are the two center-forwards United currently have but thus far, the duo have failed to consistently perform and Amorim needs a prolific finisher.
Therefore, signing a new striker would be the right decision for the Red Devils. However, they would be better off going for an experienced player, rather than a youngster with high potential – who may take time to flourish in his career.
Have your say, should Man Utd move in to sign Esposito. What do you think?
