Erik ten Hag’s ‘crazy’ decision during Man Utd’s 7-0 win over Barnsley leaves fans shocked

One of Erik ten Hag’s decisions during Manchester United’s match against Barnsley has got fans talking.

On Tuesday night, United kicked off their quest for the Carabao Cup as they welcomed League One outfit Barnsley to Old Trafford.

During what was a comfortable night for the hosts, goals from Marcus Rashford, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Christian Eriksen sealed a huge 7-0 win for Ten Hag’s men.

With 62 minutes on the clock, Ten Hag decided to bring on captain Bruno Fernandes for new signing Manuel Ugarte despite being 5-0 up.

Reacting on social media, one fan said: “Crazy bringing Bruno on in this game.”

Another tweeted: “Why the changes? With all the injury proneness within the squad, why not spare them for the next league match? ETH is so out of touch.”

A third fan added: “Ever going to be a better chance to give Wheatley some mins? Weird decision to not bring him on and give him a proper run.”

Someone else wrote: “Why should he show sympathy.”

A fifth commented: “Why you’d risk any usual starter at 5-0 up is beyond me tbf.”

Another fan said: “Love this. We treat every game like it is the final.”
