Man United sign their own N’Golo Kante as new Ten Hag priority clear -Report

Among the players sidelined by injury were Harry Maguire, Noussair Mazraoui, and Kobbie Mainoo. Erik ten Hag was once again forced to make some difficult choices.

With Lisandro Martinez positioned at left back and Diogo Dalot returning on the other wing, a large number of those have arrived at full back.

Ten Hag has also experienced problems in midfield as a result of Manuel Ugarte’s knock and Mainoo’s absence for several weeks. As a result, Christian Eriksen and Casemiro have been used as the midfield pivots.

Those two problems have been present for some time, though United can solve both in upcoming transfer windows.

An update on each individual problem has since come to light which highlights a player United are potentially interested in signing along with their absolute priority.

With that said, the Manchester Evening News takes a look at some of the latest United transfer news and rumours.

United are monitoring Genoa star Morten Frendrup with plans to sign him next summer in place, according to reports from GIVEMESPORT.

The Danish midfielder has been an important player for the Italian side this season with comparisons drawn to two-time Premier League winner N’Golo Kante.

The 23-year-old moved to Genoa from Danish club Brondby in 2022 in a deal worth £2.9million (€3.5m), but would likely command a much more substantial fee two years later.

United have been told Tyrell Malacia could be some way off being fully available for selection after a significant injury lay-off.

With Luke Shaw also still absent, but much closer to returning, injury expert Ben Dinnery has offered his thoughts on Malacia.

“I think he will be gradually integrated,” he said. “I think we’re probably looking at around about maybe 17 months. I’m sure it was around July last year when we last saw him.

“It could be that we see him on the fringes of that first team squad, really just getting a feel of being back in that environment and then ultimately getting a really solid preseason under his belt in 25/26 and then really sort of pushing and competing for a spot in that team.”
