FA charge Man Utd man over ‘heated half-time rant’ at officials during Brentford clash

Manchester United coach Darren Fletcher could have an FA charge on the way for what he did at half-time of the win over Brentford.

United came from behind to end a five-game winless run, with Rasmus Hojlund scoring the winner after Alejandro Garnacho cancelled out Ethan Pinnock’s opener.

Brentford went 1-0 up from a corner in first-half stoppage time but United players and coaches were absolutely furious.

Matthijs de Ligt was left with blood gushing from his head after being caught with a knee by Brentford attacker Kevin Schade.

He had to receive treatment on three separate occasions and was forced to wait on the side of the pitch for the corner where Brentford went 1-0 up while United had 10 men.

Although protocols surrounding head injuries had to be followed, Jonny Evans was booked for dissent and both Erik ten Hag and Ruud van Nistelrooy were cautioned for the way in which they protested to fourth official Gavin Ward on the touchline.
