Marcus Rashford walks off in Man Utd training after being left red-faced by academy star

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United players were in high spirits in training this morning as they continued to prepare for tomorrow’s Europa League clash against Fenerbahce. And cameras captured one brilliant moment when United youngster Ethan Wheatley humiliated his fellow forward Marcus Rashfordduring a training drill.

Wheatley has been a regular presence among Ten Hag’s substitutes this season and has travelled to Istanbul as part of a 20-man squad.

And the 18-year-old earned a feather in his cap by leaving Rashford red-faced during an intense rondo, nutmegging the United No. 10 to a rave reaction.

Wheatley was part of the outer circle with a mixture of academy and senior names, including Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund.

After receiving a pass under pressure from the defenders in the middle, Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee, Wheatley played the ball through the former’s legs across the circle.

Rashford, in disbelief, momentarily abandoned the training drill, walking out of the circle away with his head in his hands.

It was all in jest, as the 26-year-old joined his team-mates smiling and laughing about the incident that will no doubt be used against him during dressing room banter for the foreseeable future.
