Amorim is all but poised to become the next Manchester United manager but he certainly will not be in the dugout for Sunday’s clash against Chelsea, despite the club’s wishes.
A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United were in talks with Sporting to try and persuade them to let Amorim circumvent his notice period, which is thought to span weeks rather than days.
It was stated that Sporting wanted the Red Devils to fork out more money to waive this contractual requirement.
A subsequent report from Portugal claimed that Amorim was poised to remain at Estádio José Alvalade until the November international break.
This has now been confirmed by Crook, including the fact that Amorim will be accompanied to Old Trafford by a small contingent of his assistant coaches, as recently revealed by a French news outlet.
According to Crook via X, “Manchester United-bound Ruben Amorim seems set to stay at Sporting until November 10 as it stands.”
“Portuguese sources say an official announcement could come as early as tomorrow.”
“Both Sporting and Manchester United declined to comment tonight.”
Crook notes that the coaches who will follow Amorim are Carlos Fernandes, Adélio Cândido and Jorge Vital.
