Manchester United fans have been reacting on social media after a key detail in Ruben Amorim’s contract reportedly emerged.
After parting ways with Erik ten Hag on Monday morning, United have set their sights on Sporting Lisbon boss Amorim.
Over the last couple of days, things have moved quickly and it looks like the 39-year-old will become the new man at the helm at Old Trafford.
On social media, Daily Mail journalist Chris Wheeler wrote: “Reports in Portugal say Amorim terms agreed between Man Utd and Sporting Lisbon – £9.2m fee (£8.3m plus 1m Euros more to secure early release). Portuguese media say he will sign a two-and-a-half year deal with the option of another year.”
Reacting to the latest development, fans have been left disappointed by the length of Amorim’s contract.
One fan said: “Short contract is disappointing tbh.”
Another commented: “Why so short?”
However, some fans argue it is a good bit of business by new minority owners INEOS.
A fan said: “Kloop signed 3 years in summer 2015. Pep signed 3 years.”
Someone else wrote: “It’s basically 3 and a half. Managers don’t get crazy long contracts.”
