“Man United would have won that games if Ruud van Nistelrooy drop him earlier…He was the reason they failed to win”: Former Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp names ONE player who was the reason Man United failed to beat Chelsea

United took the lead on 70 minutes at Old Trafford after Rasmus Hojlund won a penalty which Bruno Fernandes converted, before Moises Caicedo volleyed in an equaliser four minutes later.

But the pundits were not impressed by United’s first and penultimate display under Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Speaking on Sky Sports, former captain Keane warned incoming boss Ruben Amorim that he “should have signed a longer contract” as “there’s a long way back for this team” – the Portuguese’s deal runs until June 2027 with the option for a further year.

“A really disappointing performance,” the Irishman continued. “United are a bit average at everything and they are not special. The lack of goals is hard to believe.

“When you look at United, they play for moments. That’s nowhere near good enough for a United team.

“We are repeating ourselves, we don’t know what we are going to get from them – it’s hit and miss.

“At the end it was a bit more open, but really disappointed – it was so flat. This team is way off getting back in the top four.

“You look at certain individuals and they think they’re better than they are. United are average at everything. There is nothing special about them. It was very quiet at Old Trafford. I was glad when the referee blew the final whistle
