Champions League-winning boss ‘in talks with Man Utd and West Ham’ after Chelsea rejection

Former member of Bayern Munich Hansi Flick, who was eliminated from consideration to take over at Chelsea, is said to have had discussions with West Ham and Manchester United. After a dismal sequence of performances, Flick resigned from his position as Germany’s national coach last year, and he hasn’t had a job since.

The 59-year-old had experienced a remarkable two years in command of Bayern before deciding to run for the Germany post in 2021, therefore his dismissal furthered his decline from favor. He led the Bavrarian giants to a Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and Champions League triple during the 2019–20 campaign.

He then won the FIFA World Club Cup and the European Super Cup, and the next season he won yet another championship. With just seven losses in two years across all competitions, Flick departed.

Additionally, he has set his sights on an English position and is now prepared to return to club management, according to TBR Football. It is said that representatives spoke with United and the Hammers, letting them know that he was available.

There isn’t a position open at either club right now, but both are expected to make managerial changes in the summer. Following West Ham’s terrifying 5-0 loss to Chelsea on Sunday, there is growing speculation that David Moyes will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the 2023–2024 season. There is also no indication that a new contract is being discussed for the Scot.

Erik ten Hag’s current contract at Old Trafford is set to expire in June 2025, making the situation there more complicated. The Dutchman has refused to back down in the face of rumors about his future, stating last week that he anticipates leading the team in the upcoming season.

However, since joining the company in December, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a new minority stakeholder, has refrained from publicly endorsing the Dutchman. Furthermore, the inability of United to advance to the Champions League this season has increased pressure on the former Ajax manager.

However, it appears that Flick will not be joining Chelsea. The Athletic claims that managers have given Mauricio Pochettino a deadline, threatening to fire him if the Argentine fails to qualify for the Champions League.

Flick, however, is reportedly “ruled out” of any prospective contest to follow Pochettino, along with other contenders Jose Mourinho, Ruben Amorim, and Antonio Conte. Now that Barcelona has acknowledged that Xavi has changed his mind about stepping down, any connections to the team have likewise been discarded.
