Fabrizio Romano gives update on Erik ten Hag future at Manchester United

Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the future of Erik ten Hag amid speculation over the Manchester United manager.

We anticipate Erik ten Hag to put an end to any unwanted rumours about his future during his pre-final press conference on Thursday afternoon as he enters FA Cup final week.

Gianluca di Marzio of SoccerNews predicted that Erik ten Hag will be fired following the championship game and named three probable successors.

Was the report based on a calculated guess or was it “breaking news”? According to Fabrizio Romano, no decision has been made as of yet, thus the situation is still uncertain.

Latest on Erik ten Hag

Speaking through his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano maintains that Ineos is still considering their alternatives and that no decision has been taken about Erik ten Hag’s future.

He clarifies that Ten Hag is not secure either, although he says rumours that he will undoubtedly depart are untrue.

Romano clarifies that his performance—rather than the outcome—may matter in his future in light of the Wembley final.

He explains: “The Erik ten Hag situation is really open, and is not just about winning the Cup on Saturday. It is a really open situation, in general, anything can happen on Erik ten Hag.

“There is an opportunity for him to leave Manchester United, absolutely, it is not just about winning a trophy on Saturday, it is about the attitude, the performance of the squad.

“Also internally they are planning for things to be discussed as soon as possible on the future of Ten Hag.

“So there is the possibility of Ten Hag [being] fired at Manchester United, it is still not something they are informing anyone [on]. The future is really open and there is a 50/50 possibility to see his future.”

Ineos set to lose one manager

Ineos do have one new manager to hire, Romano confirms. He reports Francesco Farioli will become the first Italian manager in Ajax history

Farioli is the current manager at Ineos’ current club Nice, and has an ‘agreement in principle’ to join Erik ten Hag’s former club.

There is lots to do at Nice, with Roma poaching their sporting director Florent Ghisolfi.
