Fee dropped – Man Utd to close signing next week for lower than £42.2million initially requested

Manchester United are expected to close the signing of Matthijs de Ligt for a fee lower than the £42.2million initially requested by Bayern, as per reports.

Yesterday, Bild revealed that the Bavarians want a fixed amount of 50 million euros (£42.2million), from the sale of the Dutch international.

However, as per the German news source, Man Utd only want to offer a fee of 40 million euros plus objectives to land De Ligt.

Today, we have an update coming from Italy on the former Serie A central defender.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Man Utd is ‘one step away from finishing (deal) with Bayern Munich’.

A few weeks ago, the ex Juventus and Ajax central defender said ‘yes’ to a move to Manchester United and he has maintained direct contact with former coach, Erik ten Hag.
