Front page news: Sir Jim Ratcliffe now set to make transfer bid for “warrior” as Man Utd advance

Manchester United are set to make an offer for a £100m+ “warrior” soon, with a new update making front-page news in Europe.

Man Utd transfer rumours

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the new co-owner, is preparing for his first transfer window at Old Trafford and has complete power over sporting decisions. With rumors that Erik ten Hag may be replaced by England manager Gareth Southgate or Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel, it may be a hectic few months in Manchester off the field.

The playing roster may see a number of additions and departures; The Manchester Evening News earlier reported that 21 players might depart this summer. Harry Maguire, Casemiro, and Raphael Varane are just a few of the well-known and wealthy players who may have to make room.

Center back for Everton In defense, Jarrad Branthwaite seems to be United’s top target. Joselu, Real Madrid’s Champions League hero versus Bayern Munich, has also been mentioned as a possible target in attack. Ratcliffe and United are anticipated to be interested in midfield additions, and it appears that the team will soon make a transfer.

Man Utd set to make Joao Neves offer

Joao Neves, a midfielder for Benfica, is another player whose name has been frequently linked to a transfer to Old Trafford. According to reports from earlier this year, Ratcliffe was prepared to sanction a lucrative contract for the Portuguese player, who has a release clause worth more than £100 million.

Since then, a Red Devils representative has been sent to see Neves in Portugal. According to the front page of the Record newspaper, which Sport Witness is quoting, Man Utd is putting more of an emphasis on Neves this summer than on colleague Antonio Silva.

The 19-year-old looks to be INEOS’ first priority when it comes to replacing Casemiro in order to “rejuvenate” the midfield, and the source also states that an offer will likely be made shortly.

Neves has played plenty of football during the 2023/24 season, turning out on 53 occasions in all competitions, failing to play in just one game. He came in for praise from Football Talent Scout’s Jacek Kulig towards the end of 2023, posting on X after Neves’ performance against Sporting CP towards the end of 2023:

Bruno Fernandes is also a fan of Neves, saying recently: “I don’t know if United rumours are true, but I know he is ready for that big jump. He is an excellent player, he’s with the national team… that’s also why the big clubs are after him.”

It looks as if Neves is a real target for United following this update, so it’ll be interesting to see how much Ratcliffe’s opening offer is worth.
